Solenoid valves, also called electromagnetic control valves, consist of two functional modules: the electromagnetic drive unit and the valve body unit. The electromagnetic drive unit serves as the "brain" of the system, comprising a coil, yoke, sleeve, moving core (or plunger), and fixed core (plug nut). This assembly converts electrical energy into mechanical motion that operates the valve.

The valve body unit functions as the "muscle" of the system. Its primary components—the valve disc (or core) and valve seat (flow channel orifice)—execute fluid control. The moving core's position directly determines the valve disc's movement, which opens or closes fluid pathways.
This elegant mechanism operates on a simple principle: electrical current moves the core, the core positions the disc, and the disc regulates flow. The valve seat provides critical sealing surfaces that prevent leakage when closed.
